In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5MB of data...
Damn! I thought it to be some kind of air filter for the airplane or some kind of mechanical equipment...never in my dreams would have guessed this to be a hard disk...we surely have come a long way!
